Amazicon or Bust!

I will be at Amazicon this weekend! It will be a con. And it will be amazing. (As evidenced by the name.)

What's so great about Amazicon for the Kozeniewski fan and/or well-wisher?

Well, I will have paperback copies of BRAINEATER JONES, THE GHOUL ARCHIPELAGO, BRAVE NEW GIRLS, and BILLY AND THE CLONEASAURUS for sale (naturally.) However, this convention will be your first opportunity ever to purchase my latest release EVERY KINGDOM DIVIDED in person. Books are $12 for one or $10 apiece for two or more. And as always, if you took the time to come out to see me, all autographs are free.

What if I hate you?

Not to worry! Fellow author Mary Fan will also be present Saturday and will also be without panels. It'll just be us and the lines around the block of our adoring public.

Not to mention I will also have a plethora of books from such great authors as Elizabeth Corrigan, Michael Meyerhofer, Melissa MacVicar, Laura M. Kolar, Collin Tobin, and more!

Quick and Dirty Update

Hey all!

Sorry I'm running a little late today. I'm feeling a little frazzled from the Brooklyn Book Fair and haven't been able to shake the post-cons yet. Overall it was a pretty great event. The foot traffic was immense and we sold a ton of copies of BRAVE NEW GIRLS. I sold a few of my other works, too, but that one was the clear winner for the weekend.

Meanwhile, if you haven't heard yet, The Horror Show will be running some fan favorite episodes in December. If you never listened to my episode, you should absolutely listen to it now.

It's easily the highlight of my career to date. And if you enjoyed it, why not vote for me?

BRAVE NEW GIRLS Illustration Reveal!

Everybody, take a look at this beautiful illustration for my story in BRAVE NEW GIRLS, an anthology of YA sci-fi stories in support of encouraging young girls to go into STEM careers:

This is courtesy of Adrian DeFuria, a fine young artist and all-around nice guy.

So what's going on here? Well, I was hoping by this point that my sci-fi novel THE HYENA would've been published shortly before or around the same time as "The Keys to the Stars," which serves as a sort of prequel to that universe. There are even a few Easter eggs in the short which will now go unappreciated until the novel finds a home.

I'll try not to spoil the story, but this delightful creature is called a Clorofin. The Clorofin race was not, in fact, introduced in the first HYENA novel (well, I think they may have been mentioned) but a major Clorofin character will be introduced in book two. So the short was supposed to be both a prequel to the first novel and an introduction to a species that will become more prominent in the second. But, of course, the short stands on its own, and I hope you all will enjoy it!

Anthology Acceptance Announcement: BRAVE NEW GIRLS

Anybody feeling ready for a bit of a departure? I'm pleased to announce that my short story, "The Keys to the Stars" has been accepted for a (get ready for this - you might want to sit down)

- Young Adult
- Science Fiction

anthology! Not my normal milieu on two counts, but are we any better than animals if we never stretch our wings? (Except for, you know, birds, which constantly stretch their wings.) I'm actually rather proud of the way my story turned out, although apparently being ten doesn't make you a "young adult" according to the genre Gestapo, so I guess my protagonist's age is getting changed somewhat.

Aaaaaaanyway, what is NOT so strange for me is that this is a charity anthology and the money it raises will be going to a good cause, which is encouraging young girls to take up careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields. I work for the Navy in my day job and so far the Navy and this anthology are the only two entities I've seen really pushing STEM as important to our nation's future. Which, you know, it is.

So remain glued in your chair, constantly pressing refresh on my blog for updates. The antho won't be coming out until June 15, but I could really use the blog hits.
